Biggest Mistake Ever

So these Somalian pirates that on a rampage hijacking boats on the high seas slipped up and landed on their head . . . big time.

Their usuals targets are oil tankers and cargo ships with little to no security. Thats all well and good as some actually argue that the pirates are somewhat validated in their attempts to "tax" ships for passing through their waters as they are without a proper governemt since 1991. I don't necessarily agree with them but thats not really my issue with them here and now.

BUT...
18 years without a government . . . WTF yo!

In June an "official" (ie its Chief Farah Ahmen Omar) was asked about the Somalian Navy which is supposed to be guarding their waters from pirates. He revealed that they had no boats nor equipment and he himself has not been to sea in 23 years. LOL

Anyhow back to the matter at hand . . .

These brothers spotted a boat out at sea and decided that this boat was their next target... now in terms of technology these pirates aren't like John Travolta in Swordfish type badboys eh. More like Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean. So they have no facts to work with other than they seeing a boat and it looking like a imps.

So yea boom dey start to shoot behind the boat.

Next ting dem brothers realise - d boat shooting at them more than they shooting at it and the guns on the boat bigger and shiner than their own.

Dese fuckers mistake a FRENCH NAVY command and supply ship for a harmless cargo vessel. I sure dem brothers shit deyself twice before they knew what to do next.

Obviously they tried to 'run' but 5 of them were caught but they had already dropped their guns into the sea.

2010 Budget . . .

The budget is out and by now we have heard that tickets for driving offenses have gone UP (no park lights, speeding, driving without seatbelt, dark tint & driving on the PBR . . . *sigh*) but also an increase in taxes on cigarettes & alcohol . . . 15% for local (Fernandes, Angosutra, etc) and 30% for imported (Moet, Johnnie, Hennessy, etc).

The Dog's view . . WE have forced the government to do something like this cuz really & truly the amount of people dying on our roads on a daily basis is obscene. The straw that broke the camel's back had to be 11-month Nevi Vionna Ramjit. She was on her mother's lap in the front seat of their vehicle (with no seatbelt) and upon impact baby Nevi went through the windscreen.

The raise in alcohol is also a two-fold plus for Trinidad as
1) we are the largest consumers of alcohol per capita in the Caribbean and no matter the cost of this vice, I personally don't see this changing anytime soon, so why shouldn't the government make some money for the country by raisin the tax?!
2) Drunk people act like drunk people and do shit when behind a steering wheel so why not raise the price to try to deter some from getting drunk (again I don't think it will deter the masses but a couple of individuals aint too bad a start)

There are alot of other things in the budget that are a good move for the country given the current state of things. . .

The Chronicles Of Killadev: A connoisseur of hurt!

AH BOY, well it has been awhile since I decided to post something, and this not for a lack of eventful and interesting happenings in the tumultuous mazes that is correctly representative of my life. I could simply point out my inadvertent and unwilling version of the ‘know your country tour’, which simply means I got extremely lost, on consecutive weekends in some places I did not know existed in Trinidad, like Savonetta. When I heard the name I earnestly believed it was some back water town on the outskirts of Caracas, but NO, it is really in Trinidad. Anyway the reason I decided to omit these adventures was that I was feeling to be a tad more profound than my recent postings. This urge to be more profound led me to my study of the interactions of the two extremely opposite, alien, seemingly unsustainable forces greatly contrasting forces: male and female relationships.

Now I am going to rag on the ladies because of a dialogue that has been going on in the office and it seems for an eternity. It is on the choice of significant others. So let’s set up the hypothetical situation: one girl two guys. Both guys are actively pursuing the love interest of the girl of more locally and lightly put ‘tracking the bird.’ However one of the guys is a known and renowned ‘player’ (I don’t agree with this term at all I see it as some sort of profiling or prejudicial statement) and the other is a good God fearing young man. Now it is my experience that 8 out of 10 times the player will get through as we say. Now this brings us to a loggerhead of values because girls scream from the mountain tops to the bottom of the ocean they want a man to treat them good and essentially hold their hand in the road, however the player is not doing that. The nice young man would but he is still not chosen. Why you say, I have a bazillion theories on this but I will submit one or two here, for time and space is an issue.

Theory number1:
Girls see the player as exciting and challenging, whether it be good or bad excitement but excitement and perceives the nice guy as boring and a push over. They believe they would be bored with nice guy and always challenged and excited by the player who will have them ‘on their toes’ so to speak. In my experiences when a girl believes she can dominate a relationship as would be the case with the nice guy, she does want it and calls the guy lame and perceives him as weak, only because he wants to treat her good which if you recall was her mantra from peak of El Tucuche to the bottom of Gulf of Paria. So there is a fundamental problem built into this behaviour.

Theory number2:
Girls like getting treated badly. Now this may not make sense to you and for that matter me but based on their actions it is hard to believe otherwise. Why would you knowingly enter into a situation with someone who may not even like you when you may have a nice guy willing to do almost anything for you? But yet still you disregard his advances and instead put yourself in front of the emotional firing squad. Would you not then be a glutton for punishment? A slave for pain? A connoisseur of hurt?

Now the theories I put forward have been modified time and time again and I am not claiming to know anything more than my observations have shown and also I am not objected to modifying them again and again until they may hold fast most of the time. I say most of the time because it is impossible to have a blanket statement to cover every possible statement.

THE UGLY TRUTH

Genre: Romantic Comedy

Premise: Abby Richter (Katherine Heigl), a clueless romantic and anal producer of a network morning TV show in Sacramento, CA faces pressure from her superiors as the show continues its steady decline in the ratings. In a last-ditch attempt to save the show from being sacked, the station manager seeks out Mike Chadway (Gerard Butler), host of late-night cable show “The Ugly Truth.” Mike’s crass rants about why most women can never get what they want from men create a stir, catching the eyes and ears of Sacramento locals. By giving him a segment on Abby’s show, the network hopes to salvage what’s left of the show’s market share. Naturally, Abby and Mike’s disparate personalities are bound to clash. Abby is jarred by Mike’s boorish opinion and finds him undeserving of a place on her show, but is forced to work with him. In so doing, she discovers that there may be some merit to his theory and eventually, failing her own efforts, accepts his offer to help her woo the surgeon neighbour she’s been eyeing. In the process (goes without saying), the two opposites eventually attract. Produced by Heigl herself, Robert Luketic, (Legally Blond and Monster-In-Law) takes credit directing for this one. The script is by the trio of Karen McCullah Lutz, Nicole Eastman and Kirsten Smith, who also wrote Legally Blonde.

Unlike most of the rom-coms of this year (think The Proposal), The Ugly Truth, with some zippy writing and artful direction is a premise with potential to be an impressively satisfying chick-flick experience.

However, the actual movie teems with offensively stale and unsurprisingly predictable, cookie cutter battle-of-the-sexes babble, made worse by jaded hit-and-miss humour. Some scenes (like the troubled married anchor couple getting into an on-air makeout session on Mike’s prompting) are utterly impossible to believe. Others, like the vibrating panty at company dinner, should have been omitted entirely. The makeover and Latin dance scenes make for some colourful screenplay at best. Most enjoyable are the scenes in which Mike manages to coach an unwilling Abby on how to attract the surgeon, after watching her flail around miserably on her own, almost driving him away.

With zero real laughs or romance, the film is neither as risqué nor as likable as it hoped to be. A wanna-be edgy and funny variation of the rom-com template, it’s just on the brink of distasteful (if you have a clue, that is) and desperate. That’s the real ugly truth.

The Dog is convinced that people are crazy. As a pothound, sometimes a lot of things you guys do get lost in translation. Dogs don't get it, we're much simpler creatures.

So, you can probably understand why The Dog is confused about Darius Chappille, a 21-year old from Oakland, California, who decided it was a good idea to not only expose himself to the female passenger sitting next to him on his Southwest Airlines flight to St Louis, but to also punch her in the face.

Apparently, he also did the same to another female passenger who was sitting next to her husband. Where was her husband? Preparing to be punched on the top of his head by Darius only moments later.

Eventually, a group of passengers and flight attendants attempted to restrain Darius. Deputy officers from the Sheriff's Department managed to get on board and arrest Darius. By this time, Darius was naked and babbling.

And they say you humans are the most evolved. Hmph. Makes no sense to me.

Unless you've taken up residence under a rock, you would have undoubtedly heard the latest story in sports today (and no, we're not talking about Olympic medallist, superfreak and government experiment Usain Bolt - big up to him for that ridiculous race).

The Dog is, of course, talking about 18-year old South African gold medallist Caster Semenya. She has taken home the top prize for her impressive run in the 800 metres race at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin, and is doing SA pretty proud.

However, Semenya has come under attack for her ... um, UNORTHODOX appearance, to say the very least. Caster Semenya is being asked to undergo a gender test to prove that she is female and hence worthy of her medal in the women's finals.

According to the UK Guardian, Semenya doesn't see what all the fuss is about - she knows she is a woman, she has been teased for this all her life, and now it seems like she is pretty much over it. The Dog applauds her laidback, dohcare attitude to the media controversy and the attacks she has come under. The Dog finds this admirable. But even he is left to wonder: Caster, what's really good?

Or are we doing the whole "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" thing? In that case, The Dog has no questions, he has some skeletons in his kennel that he doesn't want getting out.

In the meantime, we here at The Angry Pothound support Caster Semenya 100%. The Dog has no time for petty gossip.

As I sit here extremely drawn and seemingly quartered by my less than forgiving work trousers, I am forced to gently reflect on what could have been one of the best weekends known to humankind EVER. Now, for me to come to this astonishing conclusion and be totally confident in said decision is as startling to me as it is to you. Now, before we go forward, I must say that I have come to expect from myself some profound thought somewhere disguised in my posts. HOWEVER, this time, I think, is not that lucky, because this weekend was not for thinking, pondering or even merely engaging the memory centre of the human brain. NO I say, this was an all out weekend for nonsense: pure, unadulterated, no-holds-barred, thick and creamy nonsense. And it is my belief that everyone should have one of these before they die or get married, or before either event. I will try to remember most of the happenings and relate it.

So, post-losing a football game on Saturday, as is the custom in most countries and cultures some team building was in order. This just means beer and scotch in St. James, and this turned out to be the beginning of my slide into the dark nonsense. Promptly after building my team and vibe, a very hard party was in order, and where better than a free drinks in 51? This by no stretch of the imagination was a bad idea, as is the usual outcome with the prolific 51 - the party was to say the least, awesome. After this was done my night had seemingly now began, yet I was told there was a J'Ouvert.

Yes, I said: "a J'Ouvert."

Now the last time I checked, it was August. But there was a J'Ouvert nonetheless. To make sure I was not being taken for a fool, I changed my regular party clothes and decided to investigate ... and at about 5 am, I was on my way down to continue the best 2 days of my life. On arrival at Pier 1, I was presently shocked as there was chocolate, music, rum and ladies being given away, and yes these are some of my favourite things when singular, but when combined as it was so superbly done in that microcosm of J'Ouvert, I have no choice but to say to God: THANK YOU. (BIG UP COCO DEVILS FOR LIFE AT THIS POINT.)

After prematurely being introduced to J'Ouvert, and being covered in chocolate, scotch, and the stink of beautiful woman, there was a need for me and the team to get clean. And it was off to the beach. After waiting for KFC Maraval to open and investing some cold hard cash in the Colonel’s golden goodness and semi-sobering up, the excursion to the beach was on. After devouring many deep fried chicken parts, it was time to clean our souls of the sin and revelry that took place not more than 45 minutes before. As usual the cool Caribbean water of Maracas was healing, caressing and very much needed. Upon reaching home at 2 pm I had a ‘function’ (as used by the older heads to refer to a formal gathering of some sort) to attend at 2 pm, so it was in the shower and time to go. The ‘function’ I refer to needs no mentioning as I feel it is not my place and it’s not important for it to be known here. Just know that it was a good function and there was an open bar from which I did not to pry, my tired, sunburnt and hungover soul from until about 5 am Monday morning. Note that this all happened in the space of 48 hrs, and this could have been the best used 48 hrs ever in the history of ever. As I proof read this for typos and grammatical errors I am not sure if to be proud or ashamed BUT I can only say WOW, this was pace.

Keegan Simon, up & coming designer of the much-buzzed-about line 1ndividual, has been a purveyor of guerrilla fashions for four years. His elaborate designs show just how committed he is to bringing across his messages, likes and dislikes, beliefs and ideas – for him, designing is a cerebral process. This is no wonder: Simon’s answers were long – as he talks, you can just hear the gears whizzing in his brain. His air is one of a person who is completely unassuming and intimidatingly eager, but that’s just to distract you from what’s really going on. He simply can’t talk as fast as he thinks, and it seemed like he was constantly thinking … or plotting.

So, when Simon decided to visit Toronto for a couple of weeks looking for downtime, we knew that we had to interview him while we had the chance, and so The Dog commissioned Z to spend a day with Simon on the streets of downtown Toronto, check out some cool stores, and ask him 20 Questions. They stared down some teflon Supras, picked out a pair of red zebra striped Wayfarers for Simon’s, ahem, “wifey,” (ooooooh!) and checked out some graffiti artists tagging a wall on Queen Street with The Watchmen graphics. But it wasn’t all play and no work: we got those 20 Questions in, but nicked the last one, which was actually The Dog begging him for some free Dog-tailored 1ndividual jeans. We’re not sure what arrangement they came to, but the last we checked, we saw The Dog sulking in a corner. Pants-less.

THE ANGRY POTHOUND: So you just landed in T.O. for a couple weeks, on the heels of Red Runway where you showed off your latest work. We also know you participated in the show last year. Tell us about Red Runway 2009: how was it? Especially compared to Red Runway 2008?

KEEGAN SIMON: How was it this year? It was … shit. (laughs) No no, arrite ok, ok. Both were, in the most respectful way of saying, shit, but this one was real shit. But, I LOVE the promoter cuz the promoter’s my boy, Keron Ward, so I can’t really say the word “shit.”

T.A.P.: Oh God, that sounds awful. And juicy. The Dog wants more details.

K.S.: First off, for last year, it was a really nice venue, but they had no runway. There was none. So, what they did was partition people, so the negative space in the crowd actually made the runway. This year, they had a runway (dramatic pause) … but it was planks of wood.

T.A.P.: You’re joking. We think you may be kidding, for real.

K.S.: I’m not talking about fat planks of wood, I mean planks like “Walk The Plank”, pirates, arrrrrr, planks of wood. I’m dead serious.

T.A.P.: We worry that this is gonna be bad PR for them, so we’re doing a nice, little topic switch. But, nice pirate impression. You are currently doing your thing in Jamaica, how are people receiving you over there?

K.S.: Oh yeah, they receive me quite well, man. But, it’s a lot more difficult to do it because they don’t have as much in terms of those types of resources as they do in Trinidad. So, I just developed two different styles. If I’m in Trinidad, I will do vinyl cutting and printing, which is a more advanced look; but in Jamaica, I do silkscreens, which is basically typical t-shirt printing material. It sucks, cuz I have to go searching for like a little shop that will do it. But that’s how it is, I like that though, and it’s really nice cuz I actually prefer silkscreens. It’s cheaper anyway and I can mash shit out faster.

T.A.P.: But how do you feel people receive 1ndividual in Jamaica, as opposed to Trinidad? Are there similarities, are they feeling your stuff more in Jamaica?

K.S.: I actually thought of that kinda stuff before I even made my stuff. If I’m in Jamaica, I try to make more Jamaica-oriented clothes, same goes for Trinidad. They receive it quite well either way. They receive it better than I ever thought people would receive it, which is crazy.

T.A.P.: No no, it’s not crazy. We here at The Angry Pothound have been 1ndividual supporters for a hot minute now. The Dog is just gonna go ahead and say it for us all: WE HEART YOUR CLOTHES! What first inspired you to start 1ndividual?

K.S.: I woke up one morning and I said to myself that I was tired of wearing ticks on my chest, or three stripes on my shoulder. So I decided, you know, that I should try doing something different, start making clothes for me, start making clothes for myself, just, ya know, things that I like.

T.A.P.: Any particular boy/girl/animal/place/thing/tv show/(total, heh heh) that really inspired you to start 1ndividual, besides having that flash moment that one day?

K.S.: In terms of where, I guess it’s just the fact that I’ve been all over the world, and I’ve seen all these things, and I’d like a style but realized that I couldn’t get it in Trinidad. The “who” (pauses, looks pensive for a moment) … I dunno, could be me, I guess I inspired myself, heyyyy.

T.A.P.: Admirable, truly admirable. We see you’ve been following our Commandments. So, that means that you must know The Angry Pothound’s 2^nd Commandment. You also do elaborate designs for t-shirts, which is a pretty huge trend. This leads to the big question, and The Dog will be judging your response: Sooo, Ed Hardy?

K.S.: (sighs) Lemme start. Ed Hardy, basically, are tattoos that he designed, and Christian Audigier put them on shirts. There’s pros and cons to Ed Hardy. The pros of it are the aesthetics, very similar to what I want to do: the thin materials, that kinda beaten-up, worn style, the kinda “Oh my God, I got bleach on certain parts, who gives a fuck” – that style. I like that whole attitude. But, there’s a difference between simplicity and not trying hard enough. Like Ice Cream and Billionaire Boys’ Club – they don’t try hard enough, they don’t try at all, they just put down a design and sell it for, like, a million dollars because it comes from Japan and people suck it up like the “sheeple” that they are. I mean, I can’t knock the hustle, and I respect everything that everybody does, it’s just that sometimes I choose to do things differently because there’s a difference between making money and making clothes.

T.A.P.: “Sheeple?” The Dog loves it, going to steal that one. Will give you credit for it though (crosses paws behind back). Anyway, you seem to know your market and your game, so name your three favourite designers, and no you’re not allowed to name yourself.

K.S.: That’s unfair.

T.A.P.: Uhh, why is it unfair?

K.S.: Cuz it’s me! I mean, if you’re an artist, and you have to make reference to other artists, why can’t you use yourself as an artist?

T.A.P.: True. But there has to be someone else that you like. Like REALLY like.

K.S.: Ok, gonna rack my brain for this one. Ummm (pauses, thinks for a while). Well, I like Alien Workshop. And LRG, for sure. LRG is the father of how I started off my designs. If you look carefully at my logo, it has the same arrow design as the LRG circle. But the one I designed has a different meaning to it. I was heavily influenced by LRG until they got all gay (laughs). And my third favourite designer is every other designer I hate.

T.A.P.: Wow 1ndi, strong words there. You hafta give The Dog more background than that. And be succinct 1ndi, you’re rambling.

K.S.: Ok, wow (laughs sheepishly). I see designers that I don’t like, and I see designs that I don’t like, and I use that as reference to say “that’s what I shouldn’t do.” I’m a heavy observer, I observe things that shouldn’t be observed, sift them through my brain, and I break things down in a complex way, quicker than most people do it, when it comes to designing. Point blank. And with that said, if I do my thing similar to what other people have done, it’s because I chose to do it, not because I fucked up.

T.A.P.: Well, you seem to really know where you wanna be and where you’re going. Speaking of where you’re going … we know some ladies have been begging for you to start doing more designs and pieces for women. The Dog even wants to know more. Is that a direction you’re going to explore in the future?

K.S.: Well, the men’s stuff, for me, is really easy, because as a man I just pick up myself and make jeans and t-shirts. But for the females, it really puts me back, ‘cause I actually spend more time thinking about women’s style and their allure. The thing is, my designs are unisex, so it doesn’t really matter if males or females wear them. But, I wanna make things more women-oriented, dresses and stuff like that. But I’m trying to get myself away from what I’m doing now, like I did the graphic look and I like this right now, but now I’m trying to push myself, and deconstruct most of my ideas and concepts to make new things for women.

K.S.: Other than my clothes in my closet, the other clothes in my closet are blank clothes for my designs to go on.

T.A.P.: Hmmm, good answer. Deep. Eh, we know this is random, but do you follow Karl Lagerfeld on Twitter?

K.S.:Yeah I do now, ‘cause a friend told me I should.

T.A.P.: The Dog will take credit for that one, you can thank him later. We hear Karl has the best tweets. Any tweets of his that you really like?

K.S.: Oh my Lawd, I can’t remember all of them, but I do know that Karl Lagerfeld’s tweets have a kind of Chuck Norris-esque thing to them. Umm, one of my favourites is “I only wear the latest thing, it’s my job.” That’s pretty much a benchmark I should live by.

T.A.P.: Good one. The Dog personally likes this one: “Florals are for middle-aged women with weight problems.” Anyhow, to sum it up in one sentence, where do you see 1ndividual in five years, or ten years for that matter?

K.S.: Influential, very on-the-tip-of-people’s-tongues, even if it ends up being like a Caribbean Billabong-type thing, I at least still just want it to be influential.

T.A.P.: Ok, soooo clearly you just ran with it when I asked you to sum it up in one sentence. So, The Dog is gonna run with it too, and ask: Can he have a free 1ndividual t-shirt? The Dog looks best in white, but don’t give him one cuz he always gets it dirty – too many bitches bothering him at the dog park. Now that we’ve got your sympathy, can he please have an 1ndividual t-shirt?

K.S.: Sure. I’ll give him one for the free publicity. Let’s make this happen.

at a meeting at the Rienzi Complex.

This has got to be worse than the banner in Woodbrook that says "Piss on the RBTT Banking Morons."

A city councilman in some town in Utah (don't ask The Dog where, Utah is not on his list of places to go, for obvious reasons), Mark Easton, lives in this neighbourhood. He had a beautiful view of the east mountains, until a new neighbour moved in, bought some land below his house and built his home.

Story seems okay, right? Well, apparently, the new neighbour's house was 18 inches higher than the ordinances usually allow. Mark Easton lost his precious mountain view, and decided "Hey, don't get mad, get even!" So, he got badmind and went to the City to put his new neighbour on shout and make the City enforce the lower roof line ordinance.

Mark and his new neighbour argued and argued, and finally the new neighbour capitulated and sulkily lowered the roof.

Recently, Mark Easton called the city and informed them that his new neighbour had installed some vents on the side of his home. Mark didn't like the look of these vents and asked the City to investigate. When they went to Mark's home to see the vent view, this is what they found:

Mark clearly was not the only one who knew about "Don't get mad, get even." We guess he didn't know that badmind can go both ways.

So we here at The Angry Pothound are not Carnival-ites. Don't get us wrong, The Dog has been known to play mas most years and generally is all about the jump-up. But we have some Commandments which we hope you're familiar with, the First one being "Thou shalt no longer spend thy entire year's salary to play mas/Carnival 365 days a year, in every possible Carnival around the globe. The Dog says to cool it a little bit, there's a worldwide economic recession."

Obviously, it would be pretty hypocritical of us to get all Carnival-crazy now, right? But we catch the bug every now and again, and happily join in the free-drinking, costume-wearing festivities from year to year. We can't help ourselves. It's fun. The Dog likes fun. He even has his special Dog-tailored costume made for him every year.

So when we got the word that photos of Tribe's 2010 presentation "The Secret of Silk" had been leaked, we checked our inbox and, true enough, one of our contacts had the leak and had already sent it along to us. We looked through the presentation, just so we can say for sure we did it, and ...

Not. Impressed.

The Dog is not impressed. We want to put this in a way that won't hurt any feelings. Like a really nice break-up letter. Because, honestly, we love Tribe. We think they're great. They're the most fun band every single year, and they're more organized than our country's own government.

Sigh. Here’s our open letter to Tribe. Here goes.

Dear Tribe,

Don't take this the wrong way. We love you, and we know that we've been cool for a while. It's been great. We had great times in 2008. And 2009, well it was soooo memorable. You met some of my friends too for the first time. They loved you, it was awesome! But for 2010, I'm not sure if we can continue doing this.

In this relationship, you've made sure I've been happy and comfortable. Every year you give me free food and drinks, and those amazing cooling mist trucks that I love when I'm on the road. I give you money when you ask for it. It's been a nice, mutualistic relationship.

We've had some great times. That time when you let me onto the air-conditioned Heineken bus when I was sweating and thought I couldn't go on. You gave me hope when I didn’t have any. When I lost my TLC card, you found my information and let me register. You’re always doing nice, thoughtful things like that, you’re so organized. It’s one of the things I’ve always loved about you.

It’s not us, it’s you. Honestly. We really didn’t expect you to leak your 2010 costumes, especially because Island People already did that last year when they leaked their 2009 presentation “Heaven On Earth” to mixed reviews. We thought you were better than that. And we definitely didn’t anticipate that you would charge people TT$300 for the launch too. Moreover, we’re so let down by the actual costumes themselves. Sigh, the costumes. It’s sooo hard to write this stuff to you. Trying to be brave.

The costumes are kind of ... well, fugly. They are not worth much buzz. And people spend their salaries and put themselves in debt just to be able to be part of the jump-up, including the preliminary parties and fetes, so it all really needs to be worth it, Tribe. If you are not going to put the effort in, it makes me think that you’re not willing to put the effort into our relationship either. And I told myself a long time ago that I would never fall for someone that wasn’t ready to commit to a relationship. You take me for granted all the time. But no more. I am breaking up with you.

Don’t be confused: I love you, Tribe. So much. But love is like this. It's about give and take. But these days, it’s more like I give, you take. But no more. I’ve got to be strong, and learn when to say “no” to you. So I’m saying “no” now, for the first time.

I love you very much.

I’m so sorry. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me, one day.

It is not often that we are presented with an opportunity to do something selfless and rewarding, thus when we do get a chance it is paramount that we capitalize on it. So check this out, Kizzy G. has decided to have a Clothing and Food drive for charity. It will be carried out at Newtown Girls R.C school on Maraval road. The Drive will be from 9 a.m - 2 p.m on Saturday 25th July 2009. Please come out and support by donating your unwanted cloths and or 3 cans of non-perishable food (3 being a minimum so if you feel generous big up). So, for some reason which we are pretty sure is dumb, petty and/or unacceptable, Trinidad and Tobago will not have a representative at the Miss World or Miss Universe competitions in 2009. No need to worry though because The Dog will get to the bottom of this in about a week or so and heads will roll (wait til Z gets at them lol), but in the meantime we here at TAP have decided to lend our support to a contestant in the Miss Jamaica World Competition. Hmmm. Her name is Kamila Mcdonald. Tell us what you think about her, and of course Trinidad and Tobago's failure to have a representative at these competitions.

She's making me blush. But you can't see it under the fur on my face.

Chronicles Of Killadev - TFA

While reaffirming that the supernatural, almost celestial love affair, that I share with Trinidad was in good shape, I realised that I was ignoring my scribal duties. On that note I have to say welcome back to the inner recesses of the tormented maze that is the mind of the Killadev. However, the upside to this was that I was able to acquire enough perspective changing experiences to share.

One such altered perspective is the view that partying is boring and played out, myopic and even redundant. Now I sometimes used to hold this view but was I wrong. I say this is because to me there is an individualistic sort of mindset the way you approach social gatherings. I am of the belief that when people go to a party to do anything other than have fun have they begun the whole experience taking a backward step. I myself was a victim of this, BUT, I have seen the error of my ways and as a result have found myself enjoying even the most sparsely populated of dance floors, shin-digs and even church limes lol.

Now to emphasize my new found and rejuvenated enthusiasm I am going to chronologically chronicle, as is the namesake of this blog, the events of one faithful night that coincided with the CAUTION offering from Island People.

11:45 pm – Pick up bottle of Hennessey

11:46 pm – Shotting Hennessey in car for no good reason

11:55 pm – realising that multiple shotting of said Henessey was not a good idea and stop for Redbull

12:05 pm – Spill most of Redbull in car due to hole in the road so drink is still like a shot

12:30 pm – asking where the hell is the party because after all those shots directions seem to be getting alot more confusing

12:45 pm - Park car and decide to finish the bottle of Hennessey with one of my boys

1:00 am – Stagger into party with friends and girls alike

1:15 am – wine on every girl I see lol

1:20 am – hit the bar and make a truly vile, chemically unsound concoction

2:30 am – feeling too hot to function

2:31 am – unveiling of my body to strangers lol ---in other words the shirt had to go

2:32 am – 5:30 am – wining, flirting, drinking all bareback, and generally not giving a EFF

5:35ish am – leaving dance with friends and several strange girls ( never a bad idea)

-the suffix ‘ish’ shows that time was not a factor.

5:45ish am – detained by officers for obscene language and being to cool lol---- honestly just for the first one.

6:00ish am- laughing and cracking jokes with the ‘arresting’ officers, who happen to be the coolest officers on planet earth ---kudos to them

6:25ish am – eating doubles somewhere in Trinidad

6:27ish am – passing out in car lolol

Now after religiously attending this same annual event in years previous, and now approaching it with my TOTAL FUN APPROACH or TFA, the saying chalk and cheese instantly comes to mind. I think I am going to employ this approach alot more to see what happens.

PS. ---What is the deal with all this goat sex going on all over the world like I miss the memo that says it ok to lay with a goat that bestiality was cool...... LOLOLOL WOW ..........I am appalled, for shame

So, The Dog officially kicked off his summer with some of the TAP family at Island People’s annual superfete “Caution.”

Every year, “Caution” is THE summer event that people always look forward to the most. Personally, The Dog has yet to miss a “Caution”. It’s always that party, you know, the one party every year that you feel you should go to. It’s the one party that you and your friends reminisce about for the rest of the year. Usually, there’s one really good story of something amazing happening. “Caution 2007”, we here at The Angry Pothound remember a certain friend being repeatedly attacked by an angry chick, who believed that she was on girlfriend status with said friend when she was, in fact, just passing through. She gave him major face time, literally refusing to move even when he was being flanked by his friends for protection, and repeatedly verbally attacking him and asking him where their relationship stood. LADIES, TAKE NOTE: THIS KINDA BEHAVIOUR WILL NOT GET U WIFED OR DATED. No one likes a screaming banshee. Said friend, however, recalls having an awesome time at the party, and so does everyone else. See what we mean? “Caution” is always just that awesome annual party.

So this year, TAP pups, family members and friends Killa Dev, Dinners, Rega et al, all headed to this so-called “secret location” that Island People loves to tease us with every year. And every year, it works, and no one ever manages to guess beforehand, unless they’ve been given an inside scoop, which is usually only reserved for members of the media. This year, Island People decided that the perfect location would be The Salt Factory in Chaguaramas. Party at The Salt Factory? Great partying and salt should not be in the same sentence unless there’s some kinda “not” or “no” in there, non?

Anyway, The Dog digresses. Barring the overly-long Michael Jackson tribute session that has been a staple at every party, club and bar around the world for the last 2 weeks (oh, when will it end?), Island People managed to redeem themselves from the disaster that was Amnesia – avid partygoers and others unable to stay home, you know what we’re talking about, right?

The Angry Pothound and company arrived around 1:00 am, unofficial mascot Killa Dev in tow and ready to party/ “get naked”, a favourite pastime of his. We walked for about, hmmm, 3 minutes down an unpaved road to get into “Caution.” The ladies in the group were not too happy about the damage being done to their heels, I’m sure. However, after entering, everyone agreed that the mini-trek was worth it. The location was, thematically, an excellent choice. Picture an open-air nightclub, trimmed with yellow caution tape everywhere … in the middle of nowhere. Looked like one of the sets from “Terminator Salvation,” that is, if the T-600 Terminator robots were drunk, human, and wearing some unimaginative statement tee or some boring short pants/slinky top combo.

Again, The Dog digresses. What can we say, he gets distracted much too easily, dogs have super-short attention spans. But, if we were going to give you a bottom line, we’d say that everything was pretty good. Not amazing, but definitely not complaint-worthy. The music was mixed, a nice departure from having soca blaring at you all night, forcing girls to perform hip-breaking wining stunts. Bar service was good, and unlike a party or two that The Dog has attended and/or blogged about in the last few months, the crowd was for the most part, well-behaved.

A few local celebrities and party staples were also spotted: Hey Ha himself, Sachy (we have got to interview him about this name), Blaze from RED 96.7’s Morning Show, and Synergy TV presenter and friend Whitney Husbands. Whitney, if you’re reading this, which we KNOW you are, you looked awesome as usual. Girl always looks stunning, and is such a sweetheart.

Otherwise, we must say that there really was nothing special to speak of. Nothing stood out. And you know The Dog is alllll about standing out. A good party is a good party, and that’s just what “Caution” was – a good party. Not great, not amazing, not epic … just pretty good. Not “Caution 2007” good (please refer to aforementioned drama). But good nonetheless. Things finally tied off at 6:04 am, with sunlight blazing, and a lot of barebacked dudes running around, including Killa Dev. He definitely has a Killa Dev Chronicle that he will be sharing with you all soon, I guarantee it.

T.A.P.’s FINAL WORD: We love a good conflict-free time, but with all the “non-specialness,” we kinda started wishing for a mini-drama. And Island People, if you’re going to give us a theme/concept party, spice things up a bit. We fear you guys might be getting a bit too lazy. The Dog can’t stand laziness. Grrrrrrrr.

Will YOU be watching the MJ memorial?

It's started. Are you watching it? I hope to God you're not.

So, a couple days ago, The Dog wrote an unusually emotional and heartfelt article about Michael Jackson. How much we all loved his music, his dancing, his style, his everything. How he was probably the only person in the world who could dress like a cross between a dominatrix, a dancer from West Side Story, and a flamboyantly gay army captain ... and have everyone be like "That s**t is so cool. That has to be the coolest thing I've ever seen." U don't have that much swagger. Can YOU pull something like that off? Didn't think so.

Well, now that he is dead, he is worth so much more than he was alive. His memorial will be at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, CA. Yeah, the same place they have the Academy Awards. I know, something is wrong with that, right? Also, his body will be placed on stage for all to see.

So although we here at The Angry Pothound are fans, there is absolutely no way we can bring ourselves to watch it. The moneygrubbing. The self-serving father. The self-congratulatory performances of at least half a dozen famous singers who all "want to say goodbye to a friend" ... but are really possibly only promoting themselves. Don't fool yourselves, everything that an artist at that level does is a calculated move meant to bring them more: more fame, more fans, more money. It's show business, the operative word being "business."

Do you remember the time?

Sigh. So the day has come, and if you ask The Dog, he found it was all too early. The Angry Pothound and his pups are all mourning the loss of a legend.

Show business, or entertainment, or whatever you call it, has not actually been around that long in our history. But in the past century or so, we have seen people with talent perform for us, make us feel, inject us with all kinds of emotions, and generally inspire us. It may sound like a bit much to some of you cynics out there, but there is a tiny handful of people in this world with that kind of power. Seriously. To never meet you, yet influence you endlessly.

We here at The Angry Pothound believe that Michael Jackson was perhaps the best entertainer the world has ever seen. He genuinely moved so many ppl. Can you say that YOU have touched ppl, like truly touched them in their hearts? Have you ever made someone so happy that they cry in your presence and faint and scream hysterically? Of course, The Dog knows what this is like, having been such a supreme being himself, as well as a trained singer and dancer. But there never will be and never was another Michael, and I think everyone knows that. Like Dave Chappelle said, so reverently, "He made Thriller, man. Thriller."

We have danced and sang along to his music for years. And yes, occasionally, we have made and laughed at some MJ jokes. Who didn't? But we are truly saddened by the loss of it all. It's like the death of JFK, a death that could truly define a generation. For most of our readers, we know that MJ was a little bit like your JFK, and he probably had more than a few songs on the soundtrack to your life.

Someone once said that there is nothing sadder than wasted talent. Michael Jackson was one of the most talented people the world has ever had the opportunity to see in action. To witness talent like that, well it affects you, even a lil bit. And what happened to him, how he faded into strangeness and obscurity and debt, how people laughed at him, hated him, didn't believe in him, and took advantage of him and his obvious mental problems for decades - well that is one of the saddest falls from fame we have ever seen. Really. And so, what we really have here is wasted talent. We saw a world rip apart a very deeply troubled man, slowly but surely, and then he died. THAT is the most tragic part. We might have all contributed in some small way to his demise. And that is what people are likely the saddest about.

Say what you want, be cynical. The Dog is a master cynic. But, I dunno, he doesn't feel comfortable being cynical about this. This shit is very sad, and what happened to MJ was truly sad. What about his poor children? Their father is gone. And there was never that comeback tour. Sigh. If you've ever seen him perform, count yourself among the lucky. We here at The Angry Pothound never did.

So play your favourite MJ tune today ... everyone has a personal favourite - The Dog has been playing Don't Stop Till You Get Enough whole day. Watch a couple of his amazing videos on Youtube - Remember the Time with Eddie Murphy as an Egyptian pharoah, that video is maddddd and you know it. Try to do some of those crazy dance moves - they are amazing, right? Hell, fuckin' moonwalk to and from work if you can (I'm sure most of you can't anyway, dammit that shit is hard). But let's just give Jack(son) his jacket nah. And make sure it's that red leather jacket from the Thriller video, or at least that bedazzled number in the picture above. Because the King of Pop doesn't deserve any less.

It is late afternoon, around 5.45 on Friday. Downtown, George Street corner is quiet, with only a few people waiting on transport home because it is Labour Day, a holiday.

I was waiting for a taxi to take me to Block 8, in John John, Laventille. I was in the wrong taxi stand for Block 8, so I asked the PH driver how much he would charge to take me into John John.

"Which part of John John?" he asked. "By Block 8," I responded. He grimaced.

"Family, ah doh really go up there yuh know, but ah go charge yuh a $20 as is you," he said.

I got into the PH car and headed to Block 8 to spend the night.

I barely got a glance from residents when I got out of the ph car in the Plannings; they looked up, saw me, and continued on with their business.

My friend greeted me and took me into her apartment.

It was she, who had invited me to spend the night at her place, after I had expressed an interest in finding out what life was like at Block 8. Friday's visit was two days after ten-year-old Tecia Henry was found dead, on Wednesday morning, her bloated body was found stuffed in a hole under a house mere metres from her home.

Henry had gone missing two Saturdays ago while on an errand for her mother.

Five men-all of whom reportedly have either pending matters or convictions-are in police custody in connection with the matter.

"If you need any snacks go for it now cause we will be under lockdown in the next few hours and the shop will be closed," my friend told me, shortly after 6 p.m.

It turned out that a self-imposed curfew was in place in Block 8. Sometimes, when a police patrol is around, and now that the police mobile unit is set up, residents enjoy more hours to chat with their neighbours.

At around 8 p.m., that's exactly what my friend and I were doing; sitting on some steps outside her apartment as neighbours came out and joined us.

A middle-aged women called out to her son who was playing with a ball nearby: "(Child's name called), ah tell yuh doh go where ah cannot see yuh. Dey killin children now."

Steupsing under her breath, she then said: "Allyuh hear de chile (Henry) funeral is Thursday? Dat real sad."

She went on, "Yuh know de streets saying is (name called) and dem set de fire to (name called ) house.

She then launched an attack on what she called the hypocrisy of several residents, declaring that that "they know exactly what going on here and turn a blind eye towards it."

"All they know is to blame this one and that one, never themselves," the woman said.

"I remember when here was a place yuh could leave de door open to yuh house and go in de shop. When ah chile do dotishness, yuh could correct him. Now yuh cyah even correct other people children 'cause de parents coming and cussing yuh out."

The resident said that not only were young men the bad eggs in the John John community but that a lot of females were taking part in crime as well.

"De other day when (name called) get shoot up de hill, is a girl who lure him there and set up de scene," she claimed.

She complained about a decline of father figures for the youths who were engaging in crime, pointed out many of the women who took part in Laventille protests either have pending matters or convictions before the courts, that a lot of the single parents in the area sought help from drug pushers and criminals to raise their children.

When these men are murdered, the women seek other pushers and the cycle continues, she said to a captive audience of myself and three other women.

I interrupted:

"If you know the criminals and what they do, then why not unite and..."

The woman laughed raucously. Looking at my friend, while pointing at me, she asked:

"She not from here?"

"Sweetheart, this is de ghetto, when yuh see, yuh ain't see, that is if yuh value yuh life. When yuh see people protesting up here, what yuh feel, they doing it on they own free will?

"No, some do it on dey own, others, when certain individuals want to make up numbers yuh don't have a choice, yuh come out and protest even though yuh don't believe in de cause."

As we sat chatting on a cool evening, we heard the sound of gunshots. The woman got up.

"Well it's time to sleep. That's another thing. Up here gunshots are like doorbells, just that yuh don't open de door."

She yells out her son's name and motions him to follow her indoors.

My friend and I remained sitting on the steps for a while longer. Not more than 10 minutes later, four boys, looking no older than 16, even younger, walked past us.

They offered us no greeting. One of them looks at my friend, fiddling with something under an oversized jersey.

My friend tapped my shoulder and said whispered: "Time to go inside."

I didn't catch on until she repeated her statement.

As the door closed behind us, we heard yet another gunshot, only closer this time.

I ran to the window to pull the curtains open.

My friend grabbed me, pulling at me frantically.

"Aye yuh mad, around here yuh doh do dem thing," she said as more shots sounded close by, like right outside the apartment.

"Are we safe inside here?" I asked, reality beginning to sink in.

"So what you want to do, you want to leave, well go nah," my friend said.

I looked at her, she looked at me. It was around 10 p.m. on Friday night. My friend sought to calm my now-real fear.

"Men only showing off their heat tonight," she said.

"Police patrolling the area, so no killings will take place tonight (Friday)."

She said she was going to bed, but not before making sure to warn me in no uncertain terms against succumbing to my journalistic "skinning open" her curtains to see what was happening outside.

That night, as my friend slept, I sat in her living room, dozing off, only to spring up ever so often at the sound of gunshots, doors slamming and heavy panting from men running along the corridors of the apartment buildings.

After a while, I gave up on the idea of getting any sleep; I opened my laptop and began to write this story. I said my prayers. At 5.27 a.m., I told myself, just half an hour more before I leave.

It was not until 6.30 am, however, that I was able to get a PH car out of Block 8, and with no regrets for not having breakfast with my friend, I hightailed it out of Laventille.

What is it about 51 & Zen that we feel compelled to spend most of our time there?

Partying week in week out, what do we really get out of it?

Is it truly the only way we know how to socialize?

Are those the right set of questions? OR should I be asking WHY do we ignore all the other things, that we can have more fun doing and are the majority of the time, cheaper than partying???

Is it because we are accustomed to partying, and like most humans we don't like to go outside of our comfort zone? But why is partying even our comfort zone? Parties are essentially too many ppl, in a hot space too small to house them; listening to music... what’s comfortable about that?

Is it because our hormones have a greater effect on us than we seem to realise? And that we are drawn to the parties with the subconscious (or very conscious for some) mission of getting the attention of the opposite sex... are we simply driven by our sex drive?

Food for thought!

I have strayed from the main topic which I intended to write on and I’ve yet to even touch on it. At this point you are probably trying to figure out how is the title relevant ... patience young one. lol

We live on an island in the Caribbean... our home is vacation or heaven or even a dream that will never come through, to billions of people around the world. Don't take it for granted!

How many beaches have you been to in Trinidad? More than 5? When last have you been to the pitch lake? Ever been to the wildfowl trust or the Caroni Bird Sanctuary? Do even know where Asa Wright is? Do you know that if you go to Icacos on a clear day you can see Venezuela with your naked eye? Do you know that there is a place called Icacos and it’s also a beach?

I won’t even start and the stuff that require you to sweat a lil... you know like hiking, kayaking, mountain bike riding on a trail ... fun stuff!

For all those returning home for their summer vacation and for everyone who lives here where its summer every day, let's try not to forget what thousands of tourists spend their hard earned money, to come here every year and enjoy. Noooooo not carnival, but the beauty that is Trinidad & Tobago.

Aren't you ashamed that a tourist in Finland with Discovery Travel has more than likely seen more of YOUR country than you and yet he's never been... but I’m sure you can walk from the bar to the bathroom in 51 blindfolded..... let’s see Mr. Finland do that! ... :|

This is one of the best examples of mob mentality which plagues Trinidad like the common cold.

One person gets up and does something that he wants to do, with no regard for what society thinks. That person does it and does it well! Some people in society look at them like wtf, while the rest pretend not to see.

Another person genuinely likes what that person is doing and joins them. The group that was saying "What the f*ck?" is now asking the group that was ignoring "Hoss you seeing tha man lol. . wtf is he doing?" The group that was quiet is now saying hmmm but really thinking "that looks kinda cool unno"

One more person joins and it's a wrap . . . what was one man's fun turns into the latest craze and by that time the 1st guy is usually bored with that and moves onto something new.

Do you even know what Guy #37 was wearing in the video . . . I don't but Guy #1 was bareback and having a good fucking time being himself and that's who you should strive to be . . . minus the bareback part for the girls tho . . .unless you really want to. lol

i barked/laughed soooo hard the 1st time i saw this, and everytime after as a matter of fact but not everyone reacted that way.

I took the following from The Daily Fork a food news website (http://www.dailyfork.com)

The new Denny's All Nighter commercial is shamelessly (and smartly) targeting the one core group of customers you're likely to find in a Denny's at 3:00 am, stoners. By featuring a talking t-rex, a stoned unicorn, and a sarcastic leprechaun, Denny's has achieved a tic-tac-toe of advertising absurdity...but somehow it manages to work. Even though the commercial makes almost no sense (how does the t-rex eat his pancakes with those tiny little arms?), it doesn't really matter one bit. Denny's seems to be onto something here, and when you're getting well reasoned YouTube comments like, "damn this is the best comercial ever! just like the unicorn and t-rex, i love to get supa stoned and go to Dennys ..." you know you're doing something right.

The thing that resulted in me posting this is that 2 weeks ago when i showed the clip to a friend of mine his response was "they showing that on tv. Hors its obvious the Unicorn high. How can they show it on tv" so when i saw the article my ears raised because i really did not look at it in that way the 1st time around.

Do you guys have a problem with it seeing as its on regular rotation on tv?

So first off let me officially apologise for my personal leave of absence hopefully this phenomena I have stumbled upon would fill the gaping gorge of a gap left. Anyway, lets not twiddle or thumbs anymore and jump out the preverbial window.

As I mentioned before I am hiding away from real life in Miami, and for good reason the prospect of the routine and redundancy of a mind numbing, spirit killing job is not something anyone would rush to do but guess what I need the money. Thats beside the point, while here in the sunshine state there is one thing I do not understand and I am totally perplexed and befuddled and I am forced to come of my own, probably warped and subjective, conclusion. I speak of STRIPPERS!! .... now these are not the strung out, as I would simply put crash bad things you see in 'Copa' and its counterparts. NO. These are the girls every pre pubescent male have had one or three wet dreams about at least twice a week until they were 14. these woman are effing hottt, now with that said this is where I find myself lost and confused and when I am frequenting the strip club i find myself not joining the festivities but just trying to understand. Now soul searching in a strip club is not the best idea however so great is my confusion.

The reason, I find myself in mental rigor mortis and trapped in my thoughts, is because I honestly believe that these girls could have been anything else in the world rather than this degrading profession they have chosen. These girls are honestly some of the most beautiful entities I have had the pleasure of laying my eyes on and they are treating themselves like nothing more than a side of beef.( and i say this because in one of the strip clubs I went to evey hour the girls are alerted by a bell and hold hands and walk in front the patrons one after the other like a virtual meat market). So the question I pose is why do that, why take off your clothes for strange men to fondle your lady humps for dollar bills, why give totally nude lap dances where I the patron am allowed to do anything I want for the length of a song, and if I pay more I may get as it was refferred to a happy ending. I would like to know what unofrtunate event made these flawless, embodiments of physical femininity choose this 'job'.I am totally confused....

I am goin to try and attempt to answer these questions being as real as i possibly could. Now I know not everyone has had the same opportunities in life and what not and that is good and well but to me there are things everyone could do to overcome these. I am not going to harp on that any longer, I want to know what gave these girls such a distorted view of sex and sexual relations that they trivialised it into a dollar by dollar experience. This trivialisation and marginalisation of sex and its associated functions as a means to an end baffles me like few things have before( one of these things I admit is girls which I no longer try to understand but rather survive).

I have hence come up with a list of reasons that i am putting forward to answer my own questions:-\

1. Some of them were sexually molested at a tender age and like most porn stars have warped views on sex
2. Negative self image leading to low self esteem
3. Some were probably not given attention as a child and hunger for that attention that alluded them and seek this attention on stage and the cheering crowd.
4. Lack of opportunity coupled with financial issues( this I think is a weak reason because tey are a million things someone could do besides taking off their clothes but Ill offer it up anyway)
5. Materialism, fast cash and music videos( well media influence on impressionable youths)
6. Any and all combinations of the affore mentioned

Now attempting to answer your own questions only give you answers from your own perspective formed by your subjective experiences, this I know so to truly hear the other side and to understand this situation in its entirety I think I must interview a stripper. I think that is the only way this chronicle would be made whole and equilibrium brought to the universe.

Those that know me and know me well, know that I am not one to accommodate the bad attitude and plain bitchiness of anyone. Particularly, someone who is suppose to be providing me with some service—that I am paying for!

We all know and complain that customer service in Trinidad is somewhat lacking—to say the least. Being that I currently live most months out of the year in the US, for the past three years, I have grown accustomed to great customer service, and if I happen to be on the receiving end of someone’s bad day, I have also grown accustomed to them being reprimanded by their superiors.

As a lass (ha!), I worked at West Mall—now The Falls at West Mall (pardon-moi!) over the Christmas breaks. I woke up after many long (ahem) nights of liming and took myself to work and smiled with people and helped them out. And let me tell you, people shopping at Christmas time, like 2 or 3 days before… are the MOST annoying customers ever!

Did I sometimes want to say “well, yuh know, yuh shudn’t ah wait til last minute to do this?!” ? Yes! Of course! But whether you selling clothes, chicken or perfume you should take pride in your job—it’s an honest living after all, and extend simple courtesy to your customers.

We acknowledge, that some customers are disrespectful, demeaning and just plain old RUDE! I believe that a salesperson, should in these cases defend themselves tactfully but I stress—maintain a level of professionalism!

So that said, this is what happened to me yesterday (June 2, 2009)

Since I’m on vacation from school (amen!) I decided to take advantage of the Tuesday special at Globe. The hype of schmoozin’ at the ‘Upper West Side’ at Movie Towne, and paying $45 to see ONE movie, has not really appealed to me for a while.

As a broke college student, I tend to be very careful of spending what little money I have—I feel no compulsion to be seen by the who’s who or party with the “in-crowd”. So, I decided, with 3 friends to head to Globe to see TWO movies for $5—yes… FIVE dollars!!! (TEN if you want to go Balcony—not that I should advertise for them!)

Anyway, so there I am in line, chatting with my friends, since I had not seen them since I had arrived in the country—eventually it became my turn to step to the window and I am greeted by a big, fat, unpleasant looking matron and I am going to spare this broad absolutely no criticism.

Her hair was in a mess! And I don’t mean it was elaborately done—God knows, I does just roll off my bed and bounce sometimes, but NOT if I’m going to work! Lady, ever heard of a brush?!—from the looks of her, clearly she had not—in any sense! (AHEM!)

She looked as though, she was going to throw out the garbage at home. I not saying wear a suit, but umm, you ARE at work! Anyway…

Now whenever I go to a store or where ever to buy ANYTHING I usually say ‘Hello’, ‘Good—whatever time of day it happens to be’ and then… ‘may I please have…. Whatever I want’—as a result of good home training nah..!

Since my friends and I had not been to Globe since last July… we were not aware of if the special was still on… and the prices posted over the window were the ‘regular prices’ of $12 or whatever. So after the exchange of pleasantries—well my extension of pleasantries, I asked the lady “Umm, excuse me, how much is it? I would like 4 adults tickets for House (yes, I went House, because I like the human commentary that accompanies the movies there!)

The ‘lady’—a term I am using VERY loosely, then leans back in her chair and crosses her arms. So I’m thinking well... maybe she didn’t hear me because, even though I have a big mouth, I try to speak to people quietly, because a lot of people think I’m shouting AT them… when really… I’m just shouting because I’m loud! So Miss Globe Cinema is now giving me, what has to be the DREADEST cut eye I see in years! You know the look your mother gives you—or used to give you when you misbehaving in public—the look that said “I go deal with yuh when we reach home!” ? Well, that look!

So I thinking to myself, well what really going on here? SO I ask her again and then yet again!
After the third time the lady leans forward and shouts (in very poor English, might I add!) “Wham?! Yuh bline, yuh eh see de sign dey?! LOOK ova so!”

... Insert me standing most perplexed here …

Looks to see the sign that advertises, that indeed, the special is still on.

Now, I have my ways. To be honest, I can be a real bitchy bitch! BUT hypocrisy is not my thing, so I decided to be the bigger person—not that it was literally possible with woman in question. I handed her the $20 and said “Umm, thank you, eh and have a lovely evening, dearie!”

My friends are currently STUNNED! The man taking the tickets is as usual, in a hurry and well I am just pissed!

Had I been a different person, actually, being just MYSELF, I could have yelled, decided not to see the movie, even drop in an F sharp or two!... but I decided that would do nothing and would also be a waste of time.

I always say, you know the type of person you are. You know what you like, what you don’t like and what situations you can handle and prefer not to. That said, if you are a grumpy, bitchy, eternally bothered person, perhaps—JUST PERHAPS… customer service is NOT for you!

I don’t like blood, and therefore have no desire to be a doctor. I don’t like to lie—therefore, law was not my profession of choice.

I think—actually I know, Trinidad needs a serious re-structuring and re-training in the department of customer service. We as consumers also need to stand up for ourselves. I am sure I am not the first person that lady spoke to in that manner, and I’m probably not the last.

It irks me when my friends and other trinis say, “Oh! Well this is not the States yuh kno! I am well aware that this is Trinidad, dear friends. Trust me! But the fact that people have just grown accustomed to poor customer service and somehow think that that’s the way things are and should be done, bothers me.

I’m not trying to make this into the US—please! I don’t like the US at all—but some things there work and work well. We need to adopt a sort of trini-service that is professional. I’m not saying smile all the time and take the abuse of irate customers, but please! It’s your job, take pride in it and treat people, like people. Jesus had it right you know (yes I bringin’ Jesus in mih ting!)

‘Do unto others, as you would have them do unto, you!’—that is sometimes not easy, but it’s a good thing to practice as much as you can—or at least every now and then

Anywayz, that was my rant. So I guess, I gone.

Everyday the list of unscrupulous acts that took or are taking place in this country gets longer and longer. From simple theft (a job costs $100million but you pay your brethren $250million to do it and split the 150million off the top) to advanced psychological strategies that confuse the best of us but result in somebody somewhere getting a big pay off.

The Dog isn't in the habit of naming names but i've read this name so many times i can't help but utter it . . . Calder Hart!

Does he have a Lifetime "get away with anything" Card? A Trinidad pass that you pay for once and do watever you want in this country . . . forever?!?!

Its obvious that Mr Hart has friends in very high places or maybe he just has one friend . . . the right friend (food for thought) . . . but there are countless instances of misconduct that are reported in the media but yet still Mr Hart is still in control of billions of this country's money . . . OUR money!

This dude as chairman of Udecott awarded a Malaysian company 'CH International' with a contract for $368million as part of the construction of the Legal Affairs Tower in POS.

It was uncovered that CH International was actually owned by Calder Hart and had his wife's brother and brother-in-law listed as the directors. CH's registered fax no. is the same no. as the fax line in Mr Hart's home. Coincidence?? Mr Hart seems to think so as he denied knowing anything about CH International.

The thing about this that ruffled my fur is the boldfaceness of this man. C-alder H-art & CH International. This f@&ker ain't even make a effort to hide. He named the company after himself and then telling us with a straight face he dunno anything about it.

I once heard a woman say that her man respected her because altho he cheated on her, he made an effort to cover his tracks . . . By this its safe to say Mr Hart has no respect for us TnT. None!

On Sunday's Newsday the headline was 'A house for Mr Hart' . . sigh

In a nutshell the Home Mortgage Bank sold a house worth 2.5million to Mr Hart for a little over $600k. The Chairman of HMB, Mr Andre Monteil authorised the sale to Mr Hart who was then CEO of HMB.

Who would've thought that the social network that 99.9% of us use on a daily basis would lead to such a discovery.

Gavin Paros was taken away from his mother in 1982 by his father. For 27 years they had been unable to find eachother, until his aunt googled his name and his Facebook profile came up.

This dude claims that all the women knew what they were getting into (lol) and that they all knew he had a (as he put it) large family, but judging from the trini women that the Dog has crossed paths with . . . i doubt it. Highly!

The saddest part is Desmond makes minimum wage and when the court is finished splitting up his pay check, for child support, each child gets approx US$1.98 or TT$12.00 a month, so the children are left lacking. How much milk and diapers can that really buy. Seriously?!?!

According to Reuters, FOUR people were killed in Ogbo, Nigeria yesterday while celebrating Barcelona's victory over Manchester Utd. An obviously disappointed and for some reason irate Man U fan thought it was good fun to drive his minibus into a crowd of Barca supporters.

The Dog knows that accidents do happen an car/minibus accidents happen everyday but the part that had me going WTF is the report from a police spokesperson at the scene who said . . .

"The driver had passed the crowd then made a U-turn and ran into them" WTF homie . . . Football is football ie: fun and entertaining NOT guerrilla war.

Four people were killed, 10 injured and the driver was arrested ...what a way to end a good day of football.

This past weekend the dog and some members of the TAP family had a mini debate about a news report in Friday's express(15th may). The report stated that the government made a decision to implement a new system for students to receive their SEA results via sms. All of this at a cost of $100,000TT, which some members of TAP argued is a small price to pay while trying to achieve first world status. Others argued that it is a waste of money and could be put to better use.

Location: Picton Laventille

Police say they arrested Trevlon Harry for posession of weed and a gun. He got away even though he was handcuffed and when they tried to get him back Picton residents opposed them.

Trevlon is saying that the police held him and carried him from his area Picton to Block Eight and let some fellas in Block Eight beat him up while they (the police) watched. He says the police wanted him to carry them to find a gun they were looking for in the area. He escaped and ran back to Picton with police chasing after him.

Well boy this sounding like a good plot for a movie.

Gayelle TV was in the area and captured what happened between residents and police . . . shells on the ground, tear gas, and REALLLL rab!!!

Take the Dog to work day - Richard "Torpedo" Thompson

So this past weekend the dog caught up with Richard "Torpedo" Thompson in Kingston, Jamaica. The Torpedo was there to compete in the Jamaica International Invitational Track & Field Meet. This was his first pro race for 2009 and part of his preparation for the world championships later on this year.

End result 4th place finish in 10.07 seconds.... Torpedo said he was a bit disappointed with his place in the race but happy with his time as it was his first pro outing for the season.

As I sit here in my drunken stupor and attempt to get a handle on this vodka induced hang over, I grapple with a question that has plagued me for it seems as long as I have been a sentient, rational being and that is.......' what the eff ?'..... Now this question covers an extremely wide area and has led me to humbly attempt to reach some sort of conclusion, or just get a better understanding of it. However to efficiently do this, I am of the belief that different approaches and applications to the aforementioned question; of the different topics, are needed to adequately attempt the impossible. However, to attempt to do this in one crimson blase of glory I believe, would be too long, so having total creative control as I was assured by the chief bloggist himself, I will do this in a piecemeal fashion. Thus, creating within my series another series of topics to be discussed lol, so in a way a series within a series or if you will, a nested series. I think I'll go with nested series.

Anyway, to dispense with pleasantries and jump right into the proverbial ocean, the first of the nested series I think I should tackle is romantic relationships. This came to me in a flash of genius as I indulged in some home-made dances and was forced to observe some dudes semi-drunken attempts at what trinis call 'tracking' in this club I frequent. Hence I have decided that this would be a perfect time to asses and analyze irelationships using the above question as a guide.

Now, this is not to knock or disrespect anyone who believes and can say with the highest confidence they are in a real relationship and by real I mean; something that makes sense and involves two willing parties. I think it is a beautiful thing and when done correctly could see two people being made better by it. This is for everyone else......

So I again ask WTF is the point... these highly famed and semi-voluntary situations seem to be a seamless cycle of pointlessness. To illustrate my point lets take a glimpse into what I have been exposed to through personal experience, as well as what I would like to call observation and study. It seems that these monogamous situations are all a copy of each other. One bounces from empty relationship to empty relationship not really sure what their goal is, each leaving the person a little more jaded than the previous, until they are so emotionally scarred and warped that they settle for less than they would have about two or three relationships before. That is then passed by some, sadly the majority, as growth or maturity. Nothing is wrong with experiencing growth on any level but ensuring that this growth is sincerely growth and not just acceptance is sometimes very difficult. Now I am of the firm belief that; to enter into anything not knowing what you want as a result of your commitment, is not the most mature thing to do. So from the get go there is a contradiction to the very maturity that is somehow always invoked when dealing with these relationships.

So as this cycle continues one, be it boy or girl, hopes and begs that their relationship partner does something, or anything innocuously different form their other failed used-to-be suitors, to cause the brain to send electric charges to some gland that will in turn give off some chemical message that will result in that cliché feeling that is often referred to as love. Is this the point of relationships then, love? If that is the case then someone should only enter a relationship when they want to be in love or fall in love or whatever nice movie term you want to apply there? But in that lies a potential problem, in knowing this wouldn’t one sometimes force the situation which would end in one not truly attaining love but instead some weird aberration? Also, when one realises they are in a relationship where love could never develop should they do the responsible thing and end it or just enjoy it for everything it is and what it is not, and let it runs its natural course?

It seems somehow I have come up with even more questions and failed to answer the initial one. GO figure..... lol

P.S. VODKA is not to be drunk by humans; this disinfectant should only be used to clean tiles or something of the sort....

Bridgette Wilson, Choreographer Extraordinaire

Do you remember the solo performance of a dance entitled 'Counting' at Points of Passion??? Or do you know who choreographed the section of the show called "Kaleidoscope", which featured six colorful dancers in a quirky section with lots of movements???

Bridgette Wilson was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago. From an early age, she trained and danced with the Caribbean School of Dancing and was invited to join the Metamorphosis Dance Company in 2000. In 2002 and 2004, as a member of Metamorphosis, Bridgette toured the UK, dancing at Trafalgar Square in London and theatres located in Tewksbury, Liverpool, Manchester and Gloucester. Mainly trained in ballet and modern, Bridgette has earned her Associate Certificate in Modern Theatre from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and has also been successful in a number of ballet exams taken by the Royal Academy of Dancing.

In 2005, she packed her bags for Canada to study at York University and is now in her final semester of completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance with Honors. In Canada, she was a senior member of the York Dance Ensemble, the professional performing dance company at York University made up of the dance program's most promising third and fourth year dancers. She officially gave up her membership with the company in February 2009, when the oppourtunity to choreograph with the Metamorphosis Dance Company came about.

Upon graduation, Bridgette plans to continue pursuing her career as a choreographer, both locally and abroad. She has a desire to return to school in the future to obtain other dance related degrees, but her current focus is on teaching, choreography, and eventually running a dance company dually based in Trinidad and Toronto.

Amazing. Absolutely, heart-stoppingly amazing. The Dog, along with other members of the wider TAP family like Mr Niall Royal, have been singing newly-acclaimed Grammy-winner Adele's praises for the longest time. We first discovered her in 2007, then she released her first hit single "Chasing Pavements" in early 2008 and we were hooked. We needed to know more. Her voice, it wasn't real was it? Nahhhh, that's just studio tricks.

And then The Dog caught her show in Montreal in June 2008, at the Cabaret Theatre. Amazed, he had to see her again ... and did on Tuesday night.

Fortunately for us here at The Angry Pothound, we get a lot of love from family and friends who feel what we are doing ... and who, for the most part, can't resist The Dog's infectious smile (sooo handsome, The Dog). So of course, when Adele concert time rolled around, TAP was personally invited by Adele's AMAZINGLY TALENTED pianist, Bajan musician Miles Robertson to catch Adele's second-ever Montreal show (Miles is the product of two huge internationally-recognized Caribbean talents, jazz pianist Raf Robertson and the late Janice Millington).

And, of course, Mr Robertson delivered - he was phenomenal, and had a couple of great solos on "Hometown Glory" and her cover of Bob Dylan's "Make You Feel My Love" (a personal favourite). The Caribbean just always manages to produce such exceptional talent, doesn't it?

Anyways, just had to show love for Miles, for bringing TAP to the performance, giving us a great show and sharing his talent with us. Look out for him, he's definitely making huge moves.

Back to Miss Adele. This woman's voice quality when performing live is unparalleled, she literally has one of the most beautiful voices we've ever heard. Adele and her band started off with a bang, with the upbeat, vibrant "Cold Shoulder", and thrilled the audience with some great covers, including an amazing one of Sam Cooke's "That's It, I Quit (I'm Movin' On)" and her usual cover of Etta James' "Fool That I Am" ... she also killed it on a goosebump-inducing cover of The Raconteurs' "Many Shades of Black" - perhaps one of the best covers and songs we've heard in a long time. She also performed some new songs ("Stand By Me", an unfinished effort - definitely worth it!), and did a solo acoustic set for "Daydreamer" - which would have been sooo much better, had it not been for the group of obnoxious gay guys near the front who were too busy partying and taking pix of themselves to pay attention .... so rude, she kept looking at them cuz they were seriously throwing her off her game. Oh well, pearls before swine.

Perhaps pick up a magazine. Or pick up knitting." Or go to the Metamorphosis dance company's latest production "Points Of Passion". This show will be on for three days at Queen's Hall, with the first performance at 6pm today, (Thursday 30th April). ... Someone else beat you to the punch. By a few years. And she's a weird-ass but pretty successful new supermodel, the new Kate Moss, so we hear (but have yet to see).

Ok so there has been a lot of internet buzz about Cassie and her new haircut. You know who Cassie is: she had that song ... yeah that one. Then she had, you know, that other song. She also is fairly famous (not much) for her looks ... bcuz she is ridiculously, exotically gorgeous. And oh yeah, let's not forget, she is also Diddy's long-suffering side woman, a move that maybe got her the deal she needed to make music/get famous/whatever the kiddies are doing these days to avoid working any real jobs or going to university. But this move definitely f**ked things up for her: the world does not look kindly upon horner chicks, just the way the cookie crumbles yo.

So, try as you might, you can't get past people describing you like The Dog just did above. After all, you're pretty. You're cool. People like you. Why can't you have a music career, be a model, an actress, and still tote around a HUGE Rolex (a solid, reliable source up in Montreal who has met and chilled with Cassie and Ryan Leslie, has exclusively told The Dog that she sports that Diddy-gift like nobody's business. You know how Diddy is with the antics, always so over-the-top.)

You're desperate. You don't know what to do. Nobody's really feeling you that much. Diddy's eye is already straying, and soon his body will follow. You will only be that hot for that long. Then you get a call from a friend. "Yo, there's this new 'it' girl supermodel. She's weird as fuck. Half the time she looks dirty, the other times she just looks downright homeless. She only has half her head shaved, but she just replaced Kate Moss as the new face of Agent Provocateur (Victoria's Secret for those with plenty pocket change), and everyone says she's ready to blow up the spot."

So you ... SHAVE HALF OF YOUR FUCKIN HEAD.

Half. Just half. Like for real, grow some balls and just get rid of the whole thing if you really wanna be serious about this. But no, just half. Bcuz you don't care about your hair, or your looks, which are what has gotten you thus far. You're talented, you're DEEP, you can do this. You can shave half your head, and people will FINALLY take you seriously.

And after all that work, you can shave your head, but you can't even entertain us with a Britney-style meltdown. Tsk tsk. Nobody is watching. Cassie needs more people.

Upon being approached to write a 'diary' by the editor in chief, if that's what you call it or the chief blogger I suppose, I was like... 'diary'????'. This led me to revert to some Jamaican patois as I thought "badman doh keep diary, ah gyal thing dat", however I agreed to chronicle and somehow string together the random thoughts that manifest themselves in the deep recesses of my mind. I mean, if Riddick could have a chronicle why the hell not me. So I guest dis is the initial chronicle of the chronicles...

So while working on perfecting my human form in the gym today, I was stunned speechless when I heard the wailing of Beyonce over the radio singing some junk about 'if yuh something you should've put a ring on it', or something of that sort, I was like WTF!!!! This is not the first time I heard the rant, however, this was the first time I put some thought into it, you'll be amazed at how many moments of clarity you have when struggling under heavy weights, anyway, I came to the astonishing realization that.....Beyonce is a terrorist. And this is not the regular suicide bomb sort of terrorism, this is and all new form of terrorism: Emotional Terrorism.

The reason i say this is because, she is making a call to young ladies to coerce their partners into some forced pseudo-union or they would go and find someone that could, as she so aptly stated it 'put a ring on it'',(by this I mean enter into a meaningful committed relationship) . Now threatening to use someone's emotions against them in such a vindictive even cruel manner has to be some sort of terrorism. So as I sat there shocked and awed by this outrageous call to emotional arms I thought, she is really screwing it up for the girls out there. At first, I thought she was attempting to eff it up for guys as she usually does with that other ridiculous, almost blasphemous rhetoric ' To the left, to the left,'. The reason I say this is not threatening guys is because some poor girl is going to take this madness seriously and attempt to do what she says and end up extremely lonely, because forcefully coercing someone into a situation is never going to end up a permanent and/or healthy situation; this is going on the assumption that the girl is looking for this sort of attachment.

There are many reasons I could site from personal experience that a man would not be ready to do as what was stated earlier 'put a ring on it', for example, commitment issues, lack of trust for women( my personal favorite), and just honestly not being ready to settle down. However some women take these real reasons to mean "he just wanna go and slay a whole heap of bad things and not be with me alone." The reason that last statement is in quotation marks is because those were actual words that came from a girl's mouth I was engaged in a debate with about said topic. That in fact is not the reason. Sometimes people need time to work through their issues instead of jumping half heartedly into a shifty empty shell of what is propagated as human monogamy.

Girls might think I am being biased but I ask what would you rather do; force someone you care about into a relationship they are not ready for (for whatever reason) which I believe would end tragically in one of the parties being less than faithful, OR as I would suggest, waiting and letting the dude have a self realisation that goes something like this, I have to regress to straight trini slang for this, "Wayssss I rel like this ting boy, hmmm I might deal she yes" which would result in him of his own will, being of sound mind entering into the spirit killing social contract that is abstract monogamy. LOL, that little part about monogamy was a joke but you know what I mean.

The point is this, don't hold anyone at emotional gun point because, I suppose you might get what you initially want but not what you ultimately want.........

P.S. I hope no girl was offended by the use of the word 'ting' but lets be real 90% of the men in Trinidad use that word to describe girls, its not derogatory in any way that's just trini talk, so I mean no need to tote.....
